Limpopo Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba has officially unveiled the line-up for the 2025 Marula Music Festival, the annual gathering celebrating the region’s cherished marula tree and its cultural significance.

The announcement took place on Wednesday at the Masingita Mall in Giyani, Limpopo.

Set to take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Impala Park Stadium in Phalaborwa, the festival promises an exciting array of performances and activities that showcases Limpopo’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.

The lineup for the 19th edition includes artists such as Zonke, Benjamin Dube, Makhadzi, Daliwonga, Zee Nxumalo, Shebeshxt, Simmy, Hennie Shandesh, Miss Hilary, Kharishma, King Monada, Pleasure Tsa Manyalo, Benny Mayengani, Lufuno Dagada, Lura B, Mr. Noise Ses Perpi, Martha Mash, Mphoza Mashabela, King Bash, Sweeto & Navel, Fanzisoul, Rhino, Khuthi, and B.K the DJ.

Ramathuba said since its inception, the festival has transformed into an important cultural and economic beacon, attracting domestic, regional, and international tourists.

“The Marula tree continues to symbolize resilience, community, and the joy of shared traditions, proof that the roots of our culture run deep and strong, connecting us to our past while inspiring us to embrace the future,” said Ramathuba.

“Visitors from neighboring countries such as Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Eswatini, as well as tourists from around the world, are drawn to experience Limpopo’s unique blend of culture, heritage, and natural beauty.”

Ramathuba said the festival will showcase a variety of activities across Limpopo’s districts, spotlighting the province’s tourism offerings and promoting the Vukanyi, Mukumbi Industry.

She said from traditional dance and music to culinary experiences and local crafts, the Marula Festival promises something for everyone.

The festival has a rich history, spanning 19 years and is a vibrant celebration of the traditional brewing of the Marula fruit.

In 2006, the Limpopo Economic Development, Environment, and Tourism (LEDET) made a strategic move by establishing the Limpopo Mukumbi Industries.

This initiative was aimed to capitalise the abundance of Marula trees, particularly in the Mopani District.

The premier extended her gratitude to all stakeholders who have contributed to the success of the festival, including LEDET, the Limpopo Tourism Agency, Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality, and community cooperatives.

“Your dedication and collaboration embody the spirit of this festival, a celebration of unity, tradition, and progress,” she said.
