City of Tshwane has announced a planned water supply interruption in order to facilitate an essential upgrade work on the water supply network in Arcadia along Kirkness Street.

The maintenance is expected to occur over a 12-hour period on Wednesday, starting at 8:00 AM and concluding at 8:00 PM.

The areas that will be affected include Arcadia, specifically east of Eastwood Street and including Kirkness Street, Brooklyn north of Murray Street, Colbyn, Hatfield, Hillcrest, and Menlo Park north of 5th Street.

The municipality apologised for any inconvenience caused by the scheduled water maintenance.

City spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said: “On Wednesday, 5 February this year, the City of Tshwane will carry out planned work to the water supply network in Arcadia along Catherine Street. This essential work is scheduled for 12 hours. The City of Tshwane apologises profusely for the inconvenience caused due to the abovementioned work.”

The city urged residents to continue practicing water conservation measures as part of their daily routine.

These measures include avoiding watering gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00, refraining from washing vehicles using hosepipes, and avoiding filling swimming pools.

It also advised residents to install low-flow shower heads and tap aerators, use dual-flush toilet cisterns, plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs, and use a broom instead of a hosepipe for cleaning driveways or paths.

The City of Tshwane further urged residents to report water leaks, burst pipes, and incidents of water wastage promptly.
