The City of Tshwane’s Water and Sanitation Department will on Wednesday, 12 February 2025, carry-out a planned maintenance of control valves around the Tyger Valley area.
The maintenance is expected to occur over 8-hour period on Wednesday, starting at 08:00 AM and concluding T 16:00 PM.
The municipality apologises for the inconvenience resulting from the scheduled maintenance of control valves.
The city encouraged residents to continue practicing water conservation measures as part of their daily routine.
These measures include avoiding watering or irrigating gardens with hosepipes between 06:00 and 18:00, refrain from washing vehicles using hosepipes, and avoid filling swimming pools.
It also encouraged residents to install low-flow shower heads, and tap aerators, use a dual-flush, plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs, and use a broom instead of a hosepipe for cleaning driveway.
Meanwhile, the supply from Babelegi Reservoir to distribution areas in Hammanskraal will be shut down on Thursday, 13 February 2025, from 07:00 to 17:00 for the refurbishment of altitude control valves inside Babelegi Booster Pump Station.
The scope of work will cover the non-return function and altitude control function in order to restore the valves to their original functionality and extend their service life.
The reservoir inlet and outlet will be closed before the shutdown.
Babelegi Industrial Area, Ramotse, Mandela Village, Marokolong, Refilwe and Portion 9 will be affected.
