Ayanda Dludla, the 22-year-old driver charged in the January 19 crash that claimed the lives of 14 schoolchildren, made a brief appearance in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
The case was postponed to April 22 to allow for further investigation.
Dludla remains in custody after abandoning his bail application.

He faces 14 counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and three other charges of contravention of the Traffic Act, following allegations that he overtook vehicles into oncoming traffic before colliding head-on with a truck.
Dludla’s lawyer told the court that his client is deeply remorseful and struggling emotionally in the aftermath of the tragedy.
