The Feather Market Centre in Nelson Mandela Bay was filled to capacity on Freedom Day as Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) members sang revolutionary songs ahead of the arrival of Secretary‑General Marshall Dlamini.

Convenor of Nelson Mandela Bay, Sinawo Thambo, led the crowd in a prayerful rendition of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika, setting a solemn yet spirited tone for the commemoration.
“We gather here not only to celebrate freedom, but to remind ourselves of the sacrifices that brought us here,” Thambo said.
Reverend Matshawandile Bacela of the Church of Africa delivered a reflective sermon, urging unity and vigilance.

The packed venue erupted in song and applause as Fighters awaited Dlamini’s keynote address, which is expected to focus on the party’s vision for economic justice and the unfinished work of liberation.
