The Community Radio Awards have opened entries for their second annual event.
The awards, organised by Boitumelo Media Group, are aimed at honouring community radio stations, presenters, producers and technical teams for their role in informing, educating and empowering communities.
The theme for this year’s event is “Lights, Camera, Radio!”, which organisers said reflects the growing influence and professionalism of community radio and its ability to adapt in a changing media environment.
“Community radio remains the heartbeat of our communities, giving a voice to the voiceless and telling stories that matter,” said organiser Motseki Mabuya.
“The 2nd Annual Community Radio Awards are about recognising that impact and encouraging continued excellence across the sector.”
The awards follow the inaugural event held in 2025.
“Following the incredible success of our inaugural event in 2025, we are thrilled that this year’s theme, ‘Lights, Camera, Radio!’, reflects the growing influence and professionalism of community radio, as well as its ability to adapt and innovate in an evolving media landscape,” the organisers said.
“Last year was nothing short of excellence and celebration.”
Award categories include Best Community Radio Station, Best Radio Presenter, Best Drive Time Show, Best Talk Show, Best News and Current Affairs Programme, Best Technical Production and the Community Impact Award.
The extended closing date for entries is 30 May 2026.
The date, venue and nominees for the awards ceremony will be announced later.
