The City of Johannesburg said on Wednesday that its walk-in customer service centres will close on Freedom Day and Workers’ Day, while call centre, online, and other remote service channels remain available throughout the public holiday period.

It said in a media statement that all walk-in customer service centres would be closed on Monday, 27 April for Freedom Day, and on Friday, 1 May for Workers’ Day.

It said Region D pay points would remain open on both dates to assist customers, and that all centres would resume normal operating hours on the first business day after each public holiday.

The city said essential services would remain accessible through digital and telephonic platforms while the walk-in facilities were shut.

Residents were told to use the Joburg Connect call centre on 0860 562 874, and the city’s website and social media platforms during the holiday period.

The city said paying municipal accounts on time would help ensure uninterrupted service delivery during the holiday period
