<p><strong>Thousands of football supporters lined the streets across Durban on Wednesday evening as eThekwini Municipality hosted a victory parade for Durban City Football Club after its historic Nedbank Cup triumph.</strong></p>

<p>Supporters waved flags, sang club songs and donned team colours as they welcomed home the newly crowned champions, who proudly showcased the Nedbank Cup trophy from an open-top convoy.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Durban City secured their place in South African football history on 2 May after defeating TS Galaxy 2-1 in the Nedbank Cup final at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, to lift their first-ever major trophy. &nbsp;</p>



<p>“This victory is not only a proud moment for Durban City Football Club, but for the entire city,” said eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba.&nbsp;</p>



<p>“The team has demonstrated determination, discipline, and excellence throughout the tournament, and we are proud to celebrate this historic achievement with our residents.”</p>

<p><strong>Kaizer Chiefs Football Club has announced the launch of Kaizer Chiefs Ladies in Daveyton, formally establishing a women’s team that the club said will compete in the Gauteng Sasol League in 2026.</strong></p>

<p>The newly established team will be based in Johannesburg and will play its home matches at the Kaizer Chiefs Village and Kwa Thema Stadium in Springs, according to the club.</p>



<p>Among the notable players are former Banyana Banyana midfielder Mamello Makhabane, as well as junior internationals Zanele Kunyamane and Katlego Mohale.</p>



<p>The squad is further strengthened by players with experience in the Hollywoodbets Super League, the club said.</p>

<p>Leading the team will be head coach Unathi Mabena, assisted by Justice Khunou, both bringing valuable expertise and a deep understanding of the local football landscape, according to the club.</p>
