<p><strong>A slate of company and institutional investment pledges were announced at the 2026 South Africa Investment Conference on Tuesday, with the official conference presentation placing capital investment projects at R415 billion and the ecosystem total at R889.8 billion.</strong></p>



<p>President Cyril Ramaphosa said the conference showed there was a strong case for investment in the country.</p>

<p>He said the cumulative value of the pledges was the highest since the first conference. He also said much of the capital announced was domestic, reflecting local business confidence.</p>



<p>The named corporate pledges announced in the official conference presentation were:</p>

<li>Cornubia 957 &#8211; R25 billion</li>



<li>V&amp;A Waterfront &#8211; R24 billion</li>



<li>MTN &#8211; R21.8 billion</li>



<li>Members of the French Chamber of Commerce &#8211; R20.4 billion</li>



<li>Devmco Group &#8211; R20 billion</li>



<li>Valterra Platinum &#8211; R17.8 billion</li>

<p><strong>eThekwini Municipality has started strengthening its emergency response planning with Sasol and other agencies for communities living near high-risk petroleum pipeline servitudes.  </strong></p>

<p>The municipality hosted an Emergency Response Plan workshop at its Disaster Management Centre with Sasol and other emergency stakeholders this week to improve disaster readiness across the city.</p>

<p>The workshop also aimed to plan coordination around hazardous incidents involving underground pipelines that transport crude oil and gas.</p>



<p>“The workshop represents the industry’s commitment to capacitating the municipality’s emergency services teams with practical tools, technical insights and unified protocols that strengthen the city’s Emergency Response Plan,” said Sasol Inland Pipeline Manager Zwelakhe Mkhasibe</p>



<p>“When industry experts and municipal responders collaborate, we create a life-saving system that responds faster, prevents avoidable disasters and protects communities living close to petroleum pipelines,” he said.</p>
