The ANC has rubbished a report which apparently found “damning evidence” of corruption in the Free State, when Ace Magashule was premier, as an“ongoing vilification campaign” to tarnish their Secretary General’s image.
The report – by a British investigative NGO and published by City Press – found evidence that the Gupta family sold computers worth R1.7m to the provincial government for more than double their worth.
The NGO, Shadow World Investigations, formerly known as Corruption Watch UK, reportedly said it was willing to testify before the state capture commission of inquiry.
It also claimed that former agriculture MEC Mosebenzi Zwane, allegedly received benefits from Gupta companies after signing a 90-year lease with the Guptas for the Estina farm.
ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe said the NGO was rehashing old allegations that had never been substantiated and that Magashule should not “dignify these insults with a response.”
