Cape Town is on track to complete its Triangle Farm electricity switching station upgrade by 2025, which will drastically improve the stability and supply of power in the city.
The metro has budgeted R318 million for the project, which includes the construction of a new switching station building, infrastructure network strengthening and new equipment.
“Cape Town is one of the fastest growing cities in South Africa and this particular upgrade is essential to future-prep our city by increasing the capacity of the switching station’s infrastructure,” the city said in a statement.
“Once completed, this will not only have immediate benefits for several existing households, but will also attract and support major industries such as large data centres and independent power producers to set up shop in Cape Town.”
