LIV Golf will return to Steyn City from 22 to 25 April 2027 after its inaugural South African event drew more than 100,000 spectators, which organisers said made it the highest-attended professional golf event in the country’s history.

The league confirmed on Sunday that the tournament will again be held at The Club at Steyn City, with tickets already listed for the four-day event.

“The success of this week’s inaugural event reaffirmed what we’ve long known — South Africa is home to a vibrant golf culture, world-class talent, and fans whose passion elevates the game,” LIV Golf chief executive Scott O’Neil said in a statement announcing the return.

Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie said the event’s impact extended beyond the fairways.

“This is about more than golf, it’s about economic opportunity, job creation and inspiring the next generation of South African athletes,” he said in the same statement.

The 2026 tournament combined golf with live entertainment over four days, including Black Coffee, Calvin Harris, GoldFish, St. Lucia and SaxbyTwins.

On the course, Bryson DeChambeau beat Jon Rahm in a playoff to win the individual title, while Crushers GC edged South Africa’s Southern Guards by one shot in the team competition.

President Cyril Ramaphosa attended the tournament on Sunday and officiated at the prize-giving.

Southern Guards GC general manager Richard Glover said the turnout showed the depth of local support for top-level golf.

“The energy from the fans and the atmosphere at Steyn City have shown just how passionate this country is about world-class golf,” he said in LIV Golf’s statement.
