The Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) in the National Assembly has postponed eThekwini municipality’s scheduled appearance before it, just hours before the meeting was due to take place.
The political leadership and senior management of KwaZulu-Natal’s only metropolitan municipality were scheduled to appear before the committee throughout Tuesday, but the meeting was postponed without a clear reason being provided.

The committee had summoned eThekwini to provide answers to questions that remained unresolved after its previous appearance in May.
“The committee will meet with eThekwini on 25 August,” the committee told Inside Politics after Tuesday’s meeting was postponed.
In a letter dated 28 July 2026 and signed by committee chairperson Dr Zweli Mkhize, the ANC MP said the municipality must prepare responses to 12 critical questions.
