Fifth body found in Kempton Park as serial-killer fears grip community

A fifth woman’s body has been found near Kempton Park, adding to community concerns that a serial killer may be active in the area.

The corpse was discovered in Olifantsfontein on Monday morning. Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the woman was found half-naked and bruised.

Preliminary indications were that she had been killed elsewhere and her body dumped at the scene.

“It looks like the crime didn’t happen here,” Mathe said.

Police have not identified the woman and have not established whether her death is linked to four other women whose bodies were found around Kempton Park over the past two months.

The discovery comes as a multidisciplinary police task team investigates similarities between the earlier cases, which have fuelled fears among residents that a serial killer could be operating in the area.
