The City of Cape Town is mourning the tragic death of five-year-old Ameer Abrahams, who was fatally shot in an apparent gang-related shooting in Manenberg while walking to a local tuckshop with his father on Monday.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has since arrested three suspects.
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis on Thursday expressed condolences to the Abrahams family.
“We feel the profound pain as parents ourselves and stand with the family in demanding justice for this innocent life lost under such horrific circumstances,” said Hill-Lewis.
Two women also sustained injuries during the shooting.
Hill-Lewis commended the SAPS for their swift action, which led to the arrest of three suspects linked to the shooting.
He reaffirmed the City’s commitment to supporting law enforcement in the fight for justice.
