The City of Johannesburg has appointed Patrick Jaca as the permanent head of the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) after a five-year vacancy in the position.
The city council unanimously approved his appointment on Thursday, marking an important milestone since David Tembe’s resignation in March 2020.
The executive mayor of Johannesburg, Dada Morero, welcome the appointment of Jaca as the new Chief of Police of the JMPD.
The mayor said Jaca, a seasoned law enforcement officer with extensive experience and impressive qualifications, brings valuable expertise to strengthen the city’s safety and security architecture.
“Mr. Jaca’s appointment is a major step forward in our efforts to enhance safety and stability in Johannesburg. His leadership will be crucial in implementing our safety strategy and ensuring the well-being of our communities,” said Morero.
