City of Tshwane mayor Dr. Nasiphi Moya has urged businesses to settle their municipal bills as the Tshwane Ya Tima campaign gains momentum in the weeks ahead.
This is part of the Multiparty Coalition Government’s efforts to address Tshwane’s substantial R29 billion debtors’ book and ensure financial stability.
On Tuesday, Moya, alongside the City’s Group Financial Services, led a successful debt collection operation in Pretoria CBD and Pretoria West, yielding over R13 million in a single day.
The operation focused on five businesses owing a combined total of more than R18 million.
“A prominent CBD hotel owed R1.4 million for electricity and faced disconnection for the second time due to unpaid bills,” Moya said.
Additional collections included a property housing a grocery store in Arcadia, disconnected over a debt of R7.3 million, with partial settlement and a payment plan arranged.
