A female suspect has been arrested after an e-hailing driver was allegedly killed inside his vehicle in Pretoria West on Wednesday.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of murder and car hijacking.
Police confirmed the arrest on Friday and said more suspects are expected to be apprehended as investigations continue.
“Police have arrested a female suspect in connection with the murder and hijacking of an e-hailing driver in Pretoria West. Further arrests are imminent as investigations unfold,” police said in a statement.
According to preliminary investigations, the 22-year-old victim, identified as Nigerian student Isaac Satlat, was allegedly attacked by a male and female who had requested an e-hailing trip in Pretoria West.
Authorities believe the suspects posed as clients before attacking him inside his vehicle.
“The hijacked vehicle and the body of the victim were found in Atteridgeville on the same day,” police said.
Satlat was reportedly strangled during the attack. The case remains under active investigation.
Dashcam footage of the incident, which has been circulating on social media, has fuelled public outrage. The video allegedly shows one passenger seated in the back strangling the driver, while a woman sits in the front seat before a struggle breaks out.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, users have debated whether a third suspect appears in the footage.
Police have urged members of the public not to share unverified information or inflammatory content online.
“We call on the public to refrain from spreading unconfirmed reports or footage that may compromise the investigation. Anyone with credible information is urged to come forward,” police said.
