The City of Tshwane has marked a significant milestone by collecting R40.5 billion in cash revenue during the 2024/25 financial year, achieving an impressive 98% of its R41.3 billion target.
Deputy Executive Mayor and MMC for Finance, Eugene Modise, celebrated this accomplishment as a clear demonstration of the city’s dedication to financial sustainability, responsible governance, and enhanced service delivery.
June 2025 emerged as a standout month for Tshwane, with revenue collections exceeding expectations by 106%.
During this period, the city collected R3.671 billion, surpassing the targeted R3.465 billion by an impressive R205 million.
This surplus reduced the annual shortfall from R989 million to R784 million, significantly bolstering the city’s financial outlook.
Modise attributed part of this success to the implementation of an incentive scheme and amnesty program, initiated in February 2025 and running from March to May 2025.
