ActionSA has announced the launch of its Citizens’ Support and Intervention Helpdesk, a new platform within its parliamentary operations aimed at giving every South African a voice and ensuring that no citizen is ignored by government.
The party said that too many citizens are trapped in a system that is unresponsive, ineffective, and uncaring. The Helpdesk is designed as a direct intervention to close this gap and improve accountability.

Speaking to Inside Politics, Action SA Parliamentary Chief Whip Lerato Ngobeni said the initiative is about restoring dignity and ensuring that ordinary citizens are no longer overlooked.
“This Helpdesk is about making sure people are heard and that their issues are not ignored. Government must work for the people, and we are stepping in to make sure it does,” she said.
ActionSA emphasised that the initiative is not about replacing government, but about ensuring that it functions properly and delivers services effectively.
“The Helpdesk will serve as a structured escalation mechanism between citizens and the state. Submissions made through ActionSA’s online portal will be assessed by its parliamentary team and formally escalated to relevant government departments for resolution,” Ngobeni said.
She added that accountability will be central to the process. “Every case will be tracked and followed through. We want real outcomes, not empty promises,” she said.
The initiative will prioritise key areas of concern, including; home affairs, municipal services (billing, water, electricity and waste), policing and crime response, with a focus on SAPS accountability, social grants (SASSA) and general government failures.
ActionSA said it will focus primarily on these areas while still allowing urgent cases beyond them to be escalated in a controlled manner.

“Each case submitted will be tracked, escalated, and followed through until resolution. Verified outcomes will be used to strengthen parliamentary oversight, expose systemic failures, and drive accountability where it is most needed,” Ngobeni said.
She said that the initiative is ultimately about putting citizens first. “Dignity is not a privilege; it is a right. This Helpdesk is a practical step towards making sure government serves its people,” she said.
