The Afrika Mayibuye Movement has begun the nationwide physical verification of its ward councillor candidate nominees ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections, warning that candidates who fail to complete the process or submit the required documentation will not advance to the final stage of nominations.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the party said the verification process follows a resolution of its Extended Politburo to finalise candidate selection.
“Having concluded all preliminary processes, including the resolution of wards where more than one prospective candidate had been nominated, the Extended Politburo has directed all Politburo Deployees and Provincial Core Teams (PCTs) to immediately commence the physical verification of every nominated councillor candidate across all provinces,” the movement said.
It described the exercise as a compulsory quality assurance measure to ensure all candidates comply with constitutional, organisational and electoral requirements before the submission of its final candidate
