Motlanthe: It’s All Systems Go For Nomination Of ANC Councillor Candidates Ahead of Municipal Polls

WITH just over six months to go before the local government elections on October 27, ANC branches have been directed to start the nomination process of suitable candidates who will stand as ward and proportional representatives in the municipal polls.

The directive to start the candidate nomination process for the upcoming local government elections was issued by chairperson of the ANC Electoral Committee, Kgalema Motlanthe.

The ANC is under pressure to perform well at the municipal as its majority lead has been declining in each election since 2004.   

“The Electoral Committee hereby communicates this decision to all the PECs whilst providing you with the attached manual for branch nominations including nomination forms, the deadlines for the different aspects of local election candidate nomination, and the structures that must be established urgently,” said Motlanthe.

Motlanthe added that the Provincial List Committee will have to oversee the nomination and selection process
